GUIDES
“Hi, I’m Freddie! But my friends call me 3D Freddie. Probably because I never take off these cool specs. I love making history three-dimensional!”
3D Freddie answers your questions on the facts and events of history. “Hey Freddie, how popular is the Bible?” “Hugely! It’s the bestselling book of all time, with over 6 billion Bibles in the world today! But many countries make it illegal to have one. So it’s not always popular.”
“Hello too! I’m Popcorn Sally. I love a good story – and what’s better than a true story? The Bible story is about God. It’s His story. History!”
Popcorn Sally answers your questions on the people and stories that capture our hearts. “Sally! Can you tell the Bible story in seven words?” “Maybe?! How are these? God turns people from enemies into friends. Or, God keeps his promises when it looks impossible. Or, Jesus dies to forgive his sinful friends.”
Scene Cards
8 Acts. 24 Scenes. 1 story.
Twenty-four scene cards take the reader through the Bible story. Each one symbolises the scene’s core message. Find them on the contents pages with short description, and also at the top of every page.
The scene cards are a fresh way of telling the Bible story. There are 15 Old Testament cards and 9 New Testament cards to link the visual concepts. Find the connections between Gravestones and the Tree of Life, Crown and Crown of Thorns, Trash and Recycled.
Theme Cards
Three storylines run through The Blockbuster Bible. Each one is named after a scene early in the story, and they are summarised in the opening Special Features chapter.
Theme 1: Living with God. Follow how God designs people to live with him, but how the friendship is spoiled and they live apart. God joins his people in the Temple, and sends his Son Jesus to live with them, before beginning an eternity with them in paradise.
Theme 2: God’s Promises. Trace how God makes covenants with his people, and how he fulfils his promises. God will give Abraham as many children as there are stars, and will give King David a descendant to rule forever. How will he do this? Watch and find out.
Theme 3: God’s Rescue. Plot the course of events from The Fall to God’s great rescue at The Cross. Humankind faces a grave problem: their sin. Throughout the Bible story God brings rescuers but they point ahead to a future rescuer and Chosen One to conquer sin and death.
Movie Lens
The Bible story is one story. The Blockbuster Bible goes behind the scenes on how it was made.
See movie posters capture the Old Testament covenants. Watch storyboards on Cain & Abel, Noah’s flood, and the Tower of Babel. Hear the judges Ehud, Deborah, Gideon and Samson give awards acceptance speeches. Meet the prophets as they post on social media. Follow the film scripts recording Jesus’ parables, and uncover the gossip columns on shock news about Jesus’ relationships with his disciples and the Pharisees!
